Burlington Library Foundation provides support for the expansion and growth of the Burlington Public Library. The library serves a population of nearly 20,000 in Racine, Walworth, and Kenosha counties in southeastern Wisconsin. Based on a space needs study conducted by FEH in 2020, the library is less than half the size that it needs to be to properly provide services for this population.

Despite this, the library offers a robust slate of public programs, numbering 931 with 14,366 attendees in 2023.

Working with FEH Design, the library board has envisioned a substantial expansion, from a total of 16,019 square feet to a total of 32,000 square feet, with an estimated cost of $11.9 million.

Burlington’s Public Library has always been a place to explore, share, discover, and dream. But the existing library can no longer provide all that our community needs to move boldly into the future. The time has come for a new library, one that is expansive enough to provide private reading spaces and public meeting places – a library that offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere along with cutting edge technology. It is time for a library that offers everyone in our community a home away from home. The library is in the forefront of exciting changes. Key stakeholders and leaders have come together in support of this project, with an understanding of what it will do for the community.
