Advance Shullsburg was formed in 2016 as a registered 501 (c) (3) not for profit organization. It has since provided value to the community in the form of tourism promotion, economic development, events, and community projects in Shullsburg, Wisconsin. Advance Shullsburg led to become a designated National Main Street Community and operates the Shullsburg Visitors Center. It is led by a 20+ person board with two staff members. Advance Shullsburg is collaborating with the City of Shullsburg to fundraise for the revival of Badger Park in Shullsburg, Wisconsin.

Badger Park was developed in the late 1930s as a federal Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) project and was among the first parks in the region to install lights in 1948. Badger Park has a tradition of being one of the finest parks in the region. Uniquely, as a city park, it hosts high school athletics, and its softball/baseball field serves athletes from t-ball level to semi-professional. The park is a source of small-town pride in Shullsburg that has been used by four generations of families and children.

The proposed improvements to the park include an improved walking path, new fencing, athletic field improvements, including new LED field lighting, new backstops and dugouts, improved accessible restrooms, new concession stand and stormwater management solutions. These improvements will not only expand the park’s recreational offerings but also ensure that the scenic views and natural landscapes are preserved and integrated into the user experience. The project is designed to enhance the accessibility and enjoyment of the park’s natural surroundings, allowing residents and visitors to engage in outdoor recreation while appreciating the unique beauty of the area. In doing so, it strengthens the connection between the park’s amenities and the surrounding natural features, adding to the overall appeal and ecological value of Shullsburg’s Badger Park.
